Storage Tips

Fridge and freezers should be thoroughly clean and dry before storing with doors securely AJAR to prevent mould build up. You could also place a deodoriser inside to maintain freshness. It is not a good idea to store items inside as the linings and shelves are easily damaged. All electrical items should be handled with care. Wrap items individually in bubble wrap and packing in sealed cartons will offer extra protection, always remember to pack out any gaps in the cartons. If packing metal items, wrapping in NON ACID tissue paper or plastic bags will reduce tarnishing. Clothing and personal items should be securely packed with mothballs or a similar product to maintain their condition. When packing up your kitchen, protect fragile items by wrapping individually with packing paper (it is not recommended to use newspaper as the print can be messy and leave stains). Fill in any gaps with scrunched paper or linen to prevent items from moving or breaking. Place plates, saucers and bowls on their sides to prevent breakages.

How to successfully pack your storage shed

Packing your items properly will save you time and ensure your goods are maintained in the best possible condition!

Before storing lounges, vacuum food crumbs and clean thoroughly to prevent attracting vermin and always cover with plastic. Furniture should not be stored directly on the floor, use plastic or material to cushion heavy items.

Start with large heavy items at the rear of the unit, working upwards and forwards as your items get lighter and more fragile. Wherever possible, disassemble beds, taking legs off furniture etc to maximise your storage space. Leave the front for any material you may need whilst in storage and look up! Utilise all of the space available to you including the height. It is always a good idea to leave a small space around the perimeter of your storage unit to aid circulation. If access is needed to most cartons, a walkway is often a good idea. Always mark cartons that are fragile and store highest to avoid damage.
